Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus delivered a £210 million contribution to the UK economy in 2025 and supported 3,000 jobs, according to a new report by Oxford Economics.
Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus are part of the Go-Ahead Group, one of the UK’s largest public transport operators, and the Group contributed £6.4 billion to the UK economy in 2025 and supported 86,900 jobs across the UK, operating bus and rail services that play a vital role in keeping communities connected across the country.
As two of the largest bus operating companies in East and West Sussex, the report highlights the significant economic impact and social value generated by Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus.
The services that the two operators provide are relied upon by millions of customers every day. They run a combined number of over 480 buses from multiple depots, providing over 120 bus services, and employing a workforce of over 1,800 people.
Both Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus continue to make huge progress towards achieving net-zero as part of a long-term strategy to reduce emissions and improve air quality across the network. The recent introduction of 16 brand-new electric buses in Brighton & Hove this year are another huge step towards this transition.
The company has also made significant investment in recruiting more women drivers than ever before, and also by providing exemplary and industry leading accessibility initiatives that make travel for accessible for everyone.
